In 2020, several bicycle manufacturers updated the thru axle interfaces on select bike models, rendering them incompatible with KICKRs version 3 (2017) through version 5 (2020), as well as all versions of KICKR CORE. To address this, Wahoo collaborated closely with these manufacturers to develop an updated set of adapters, ensuring compatibility with the affected bicycles and the specified Wahoo trainers, except for KICKR v3 (2017), which remains incompatible with these new adapters.

Tools required

  • Cassette lockring tool

  • Chain Whip

  • 14mm cone wrench

  • 17mm cone wrench 

Instructions

  1. Remove the existing non-drive side QR or thru axle adapter.

  2. Remove the existing drive side QR adapter or thru axle spin cap.

  3. Remove the cassette (Cassette removal/installation instructions).

  4. Remove existing freehub lock nut (Freehub removal/installation instructions)

  5. Install new chamfered freehub lock nut,(Parts 5 or 6 above, depending on freehub body type), tightening to finger-tight + 1/4 turn.

  6. Reinstall the cassette.

  7. Install the new 142 non-drive side adapter.

  8. Install the new chamfered drive side spin cap.
